Brands [that] create eco-friendly kitchen gadgets tackle what is easily the most preventable source of household waste: food waste. The FoodCycler Eco 5 is a fantastic example.

Over the past nine months, my FoodCycler has become part of my kitchen routine.
While the investment is steep, cottage owners should put it on their wish list because it stores scraps and fits on your countertop without attracting furry neighbours.

Reduce food waste while creating plant food for your garden with this compact, quiet and easy-to-use gadget — it’s worth the price!
No, our kitchen countertop/cabinet food recycler is thoughtfully designed with carbon filters that eliminate odors. Enjoy a pleasant, pest-free household!
The carbon filters in this food waste recycling machine trap and absorb odor-causing molecules in your food before they hit the air.
Absolutely! The Eco 5 reduces waste volume by up to 90%. That means your waste bin won’t be packed to the brim by the time garbage day rolls around.
Yes, using the Eco 5 reduces the amount of food waste that decomposes in landfills and produces greenhouse gases. It’s a local solution to a global problem, empowering you to take ownership of individual food waste at home.
The Eco 5 food waste recycling machine can handle up to 5 liters of food waste in a single cycle.
The Eco 3 is best for households with 1 to 3 people, while the Eco 5 is perfect for households with 4+ people.
On average, you’ll want to replace and refill the charcoal in your filter every three or four months, depending on how much you use your kitchen recycler and what you put in it.
If you’re noticing smells before the three-month mark, fill it with new charcoal.
Each cycle uses about 1.5 kWh per cycle, which is roughly equivalent to running a desktop computer for the same period of time. Depending on where you live, that shouldn’t cost you more than a couple of cents per cycle.
The time needed depends on the amount of food waste being processed, the density of the food waste, and the moisture levels contained in each. The typical Eco 5 cycle takes between 4-9 hours.
If the blades in your food waste recycling machine are not restricted by debris, you can simply keep adding your scraps and running cycles as usual. If there is dried waste stuck to the side of the bucket, soak it in warm soapy water or put the bucket in the dishwasher.
Add your food waste recycler to your kitchen countertop, inside a cabinet, or anywhere that is convenient for you and has an outlet. You can always move the bucket closer to your workspace for food scrap collection.
